To the best of my knowledge this hymn is truly Bovinese. It was written about the apparition of the Blessed Virgin at Valleverde, and is part of the sound track of the 29 August celebrations.
I can still hear Don Lorenzo shouting out the words to the blind and illiterate grannies singing their hearts out.
While not Bovinese, this Christmas carol is a regional favorite.
I don't know the origins of this hymn, or how diffusely it is spread, but if you have ever spent any time in the cathedral, you will know it well.
