proloco bovino.it
Bovino, il borgo degli ottocento portali di pietra

prolocobovino

This is the website of the tourist office in Bovino, courtesy of Michele Grande and Marianna Cutillo.

The slogan reads: "Bovino, the town of 800 stone portals".

Nardino

Nardino

Nardino has re-invented himself with this new-look site. Well worth a visit.

bovinonline

Bovinonline.it

A well presented website about Bovino. As is often the case, it's all Italian.

However. Bovinoline.it distinguishes itself from the crowd by linking back to this site - a very wise move in the Bovino website industry.

If you do speak Italian, check out the active forum, especially the rather complimentary comments about this site.

ventoamico

ventoamico

This blog comes courtesy of Pasquale Garofalo on the left here.

It is not a strictly a Bovino website, but there is enough Bovino content for it to qualify for a link here.

His slogan reads: "thoughts, opinions and images entrusted to the web".

 marrcord
marrcord

"Bovinesi not to be forgotten". A collection of historical photos of significant historical figures from Bovino.
Marcuccio lets the photos speak for themselves, so even if you don't speak Italian, you don't miss out on much.
In case you were wondering, the name "m'arrcord" means "I remember" in dialect.

 Bovinesidoc
Bovinesi D.O.C.

"Bovinese irony without brakes". The man behind this blog cares passionately about Bovino. I don't always agree with what he says, but I can't argue with his intentions.

D.O.C. stands for Denominazione di Origine Controllato. You will often find this abbreviation on wine or other goods, and shows that it has come from controlled origins. I wish I had thought of using that name!

Cittą di Bovino
Cittą di Bovino

It looks like the official site of the comune is back with a vengeance.  Let's hope the "SITO IN ALLESTIMENTO" (site under construction) banner disappears one day, and some of these links become active.

Ciao Italiano
Ciao Italiano

This is an MSN group run by Betty pictured here on the left. Her connection to Bovino is that she IS a Bovino, that is to say her family name is Bovino.  If you are a Bovino why not drop by and say hello?

Orchidee di Bovino
Orchidee di Bovino

Orchids of Bovino! Well I never knew that orchid farming was an industry in Bovino until now. As well as show casing their orchids, these people have also given us a few pages about Bovino itself. The photos of Bovino are supplied by G. Nunno and G Santoro, and are notably better than the average.

sandman
sandman

This is local-boy-done-good Francesco Colangelo's blog. Francesco is a film director, and has had great success with his independent short films.

I Principi Del Liscio

I Principi Del Liscio

This is the website of a folk band which originates in Bovino.

I can't say I've ever had the pleasure of hearing them play, but maybe with a this link to their site I might get VIP tickets to their next concert.

Megadis

Megadis

Another band from Bovino.

Again, I'm waiting for my VIP tickets.

Nunno Foto

I've put this link in precisely because it goes nowhere. This is such a great shame. We should be buying professional photos from this site, not looking at an "under construction" notice. If you ever go to Bovino, go to the shop, and thumb through their archive of photos. Some of them are visually stunning as well as being of great historical importance.

MUSEUMS OF THE WORLD
presents
www.museum.com
BOVINO Museo archeologico

 "Carlo Gaetano Nicastro"

This is the website of the museum found in the Villa Communale, adjoining the church of San Antonio.

Unfortunately, most of the site is in Italian only, but the site is none the less well worth a visit, as of course is the museum itself.

I Borghi pił Belli d'Italia

I Borghi pił Belli d'Italia

"The most beautiful villages in Italy" is a club set up by the Italian Tourism Council to promote the many small towns and villages in Italy often unknown to the world at large.

A lot of the site has been translated into reasonable English, and by the look of it, Japanese is coming soon.

bovino.da.ru

This is one of the oldest Bovino websites. Unfortunately, like Bovino itself, it accessible only to insiders, and seems to have been left abandoned.

Don't let the Russian domain name fool you, this really is about Bovino in Italy.

Rauseo Giuseppe

This is the personal homepage of a gentleman with origins in Bovino.

Bovino
Il castello Baronale

Just one page, in Italian, about the castle. A few nice pictures.

Fattibene.it
Fattibene.it

This is the website of one of the butchers in Bovino. His shop can be found at the top end of Via Castello (walk straight up the Corso, turn left before the arch, and he's next door but one to Romeo's hardware shop).

Despite the Union flag, on the website, there is no English version. This is a great pity, since there is an excellent description of the various cured meats typical of Bovino and the surrounding area. Click on the Italian flag, and the Prodotti to see the product range.

If you want to taste it, go to Bovino.

La Sacrestia

This site is about La Sacrestia, the restaurant just on the right hand side as you pass through the arch heading into the historical town center.

Mario Taddei

No explanations, just a number of interesting photos of Bovino taken by Mario Taddei in August 2001. Mario's grandmother Dina lives in Bovino.

American Catholic Saint of the Day
Blessed Antonio Lucci

This is a page from americancatholic.org I have to admit I had never heard of this particular bishop of Bovino until this link was brought to my attention. - Unfortunately, it looks as though St Anthony has forsaken their search engine, as typing in Bovino does not produce any relevant articles, not even this one on their own site.

WordReference.com

WordReference.com

This is not directly a Bovino link, just an on-line dictionary which includes Italian. However as dictionaries go it is a good one and it comes highly recommended. Note the active forum where you can discuss the nuances of translation.
